Thermal Stable Polycrystalline Diamond(TSP) is a thermally stable polycrystalline diamond product manufactured using the same ultra-high pressure and high-temperature techniques as other PCD products. Its binder is chemically inserted and has a similar coefficient of thermal expansion to that of a diamond. It is thermally stable up to 1200 degrees Celsius.
It can be manufactured in various sizes and shapes(Cubes, cylinders, rectangles, triangles, etc.). One of the primary applications for TSP is wear protection on the gauge of drill bits. It is suitable for oil drilling bits and mining bits, which can be used as a primary cutting element.
Thermally stable diamond drill bit cutters maintain sharpness at temperatures up to 2000°F and are stronger to withstand drilling impact forces. Drill bits employing the TSP cutters can reduce overall system costs by increasing penetration and bit life rates.
